You’re reading edition #2 of the LaunchBoom Newsletter, which is sent every Tuesday to thousands of product creators.

This newsletter is getting out a little late today 😅

To be honest, I’ve been so heads down working on the next version of my book, Crowdfunded, that I lost track of time yesterday! Been up since the early morning finishing this 🙂

I hope you enjoy!

1. Short Story

The 10 year launch.

Meet the brother & sister co-founders of Bevis Gear.

After a million challenges, they raised $1,007,150 on Kickstarter.

Matt & Nycol are the creators of the Top Shelf Camera Bag.

It all started back in 2011.

Matt had an idea for a camera bag unlike anything on the market.

He decided it was time to make this idea a reality and borrowed $10K from their mother.

He created the initial design and got a patent but the money didn’t last forever.

Matt raised some more money and Nycol joined the team.

Unfortunately…

It wasn’t smooth sailing and they faced challenge after challenge.

Finally in 2018, they were ready to finish what they started.

Matt flew off to Vietnam to work with one of the world’s top bag manufacturers.

He ended up staying there for an entire year getting the product right.

Nycol and Matt now had an amazing product but they had no idea how to bring it to market.

So they joined LaunchBoom in 2019.

Here’s the 3 key steps to their successful launch.

1 / We made a Reservation Funnel to build a prelaunch email list

With the Reservation Funnel, we collected leads, but also collected $1 reservations. Those that put down a $1 deposit would reserve the best discount for Top Shelf Camera Bag.

2 / We drove traffic with Facebook & Instagram

Here was our best performing ad… click to see it on Facebook.

Here were our advertising metrics right before we launched:

  • Ad spend: $18,688.04
  • Leads: 8,929
  • Reservations: 472

3 / We launched and got funded on day one

When we launched, we emailed our prelaunch email list and drove $126,569 in presale revenue in the first 24 hours.

By the end of the campaign, we were over $1M.

love this story.

It’s a great example of not only the grit and determination needed to pursue your product idea…

But also how the LaunchBoom system can bring your idea to life.

2. Marketing Tip

Mailchimp’s pricing is backwards… right?

It looks that way.

But this wasn’t a mistake.

Mailchimp is using price anchoring.

We all are “anchored” by the 1st price we see.

In this case, we see $350 for premium 1st.

Next comes standard for only $20.

Which now looks way cheaper.

And is their most popular tier.

3. Favorite Content

“Man, sometimes it takes you a long time to sound like yourself.”

I don’t see Miles Davis quoted much.

But I think this quote is so relevant to business and life.
